In my last month of working with the company. I had booked my flights ready to leave. Then, they failed to pay me my last six weeks of pay. Obviously on purpose. That is: 15,000 yuan = 2,200 usd – 2000 euro – 3000 aud (my default currency) – 1700 gbp, etc.
How they are able to do this, is because you are paid six weeks after working. If you work 1st to the 30th = 1 months pay arrives on the 15th. But if you have continued working till the 15th and cease your contract on that date, in which they should give you full payment for the end of your contract, they can choose to pay none of the final contract.
When I did get paid, half the time it was late. This payment was over a week late (there was a public holiday so I was giving them 1 extra day incase they were unorganised and didn’t put in the payment before the banks day off). The real problem here was that they lied. They said “we paid you on the 15th”. I had been going down to my bank each day to check if I had been paid. When they sent that email (long, long after the 15th), the money was suddenly there… implying they had made a force payment because they had forgotten to pay me.
They do not offer working insurance. Totally evade the question when asked each time. I never got insurance when in the country.
Their “address” when I went was an apartment in a house complex dressed up like a business. Ie, it’s just a room in an apartment building with a few computers and pictures on the wall. The recruitment happens on a living room couch.
This companies practices are incredibly illegal… don’t work for them if you care if you get paid. Any contact details from a company listed under this name or with the details email@example.com, firstname.lastname@example.org, emilyesl, batw-ice, 15611116561, beijing new esl, beijing hang xin, international culture exchange, or beijing hang xin international culture exchange co ltd isn’t worth it. Keep looking for another company.
